Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Readiness Assessment (AMERA) is a pre-application requirement that tests your basic math skills . The AMERA also assesses your listening, writing, and reading skills for future support within the program at a college level.
Details of the four sub-tests of the AMERA are:
1. Listening Assessment
- You will watch, listen and take point form notes of a video of an AME instructor explaining a particular maintenance operation of an aircraft. You will then answer eight questions, in writing, based on what you have heard and seen in the video.
2. Math Readiness Assessment
- There are 23 multiple choice questions. A conversion table for math calculations has been provided. No calculators are allowed. Scrap paper, pencils and erasers will be provided.
3. Writing Assessment
- You will read four pages from an aircraft maintenance manual. You will then respond in writing to 5 questions based on what you have read.
4. Reading Assessment
- You will read an aircraft maintenance manual article regarding an aircraft's operations and answer ten multiple choice questions based on your reading.
For the AME Readiness Assessment, you are given 3 hours to complete all four sub-tests.
